On July 19, 2021, Ontario’s Minister of Energy, the Hon. Todd Smith met with Lakeland Power and Bracebridge Generation staff in Bracebridge to voice his appreciation for their efforts over the past COVID period.
“Delivering reliable electricity to Bracebridge, Burk’s Falls, Huntsville, Magnetawan, Parry Sound, and Sundridge, including some of Ontario’s most heavily forested areas, is no easy feat! I want to celebrate Lakeland Power’s commitment to innovation and reliable service for their communities during this extraordinary year”, stated Hon. Todd Smith, Minister of Energy.
Lakeland Power and Bracebridge Generation teams together continue to meet the demands required to generate and deliver electricity. With over 14,000 Lakeland Power customers, 163 square Kms of Service Area, 367Kms of Distribution Lines, 10 Generation Plants, one solar field and one Battery storage facility, COVID-19 has not hindered the ability of Lakeland Power and Bracebridge Generation to ensure reliable service.
“I certainly echo the Minister’s appreciation as our staff are available 24 hours per day, 365 days per year working through all sorts of weather under extreme conditions. Their already dangerous jobs were exasperated by COVID which they quickly adjusted to in meeting the challenges of generating and distributing electricity safely”, expressed Chris Litschko, CEO.
